The Snowdrop Festival draws to a close this weekend, so if you haven't already visited please take the opportunity to pop over this weekend to see the snowdrops.
Head Gardener, Richard Todd, believes that the collection will look great through the weekend but will fade through next week as temperatures gradually rise. Most of the early flowering varieties have now finished with around 60% of the collection still in flower.
As one season finishes another begins and other bulbs and spring flowers are really pushing through, such as scilla, helebore, narcissus and anemone. Flowering shrubs in the Winter Garden have made a great recovery from the icy conditions a few weeks back and are pumping out delightful scents.
Thank you to everyone who has visited during the Festival - we hope you enjoyed yourselves and maybe have been inspired to start your own snowdrop collection. Don't forget the gardens offer colour and interest throughout the year. In Spring there are massed drifts of daffodils and over 4000 hyacinths give off an amazing scent in the Formal Gardens. In summer the magnificent herbaceous borders, Rose Garden an wildflower meadows take centre stage. We welcome autumn with vivid vibrant colours of dahlias. This is the last entry for the Snowdrop blog but we will soon be launching a new Garden Blog to keep you updated on what's happening in the garden's - so please keep a regular eye on our website www.nationaltrust.org.uk/angleseyabbey and hope to see you again soon.

Sunshine and Snowdrops
The weather forecast for the weekend is looking good with plenty of sunshine. The snowdrops are looking fantastic and in many areas are now accompanied by carpets of bright yellow winter aconites.
Every area for viewing snowdrops is now open which includes the South Park and Dells which have until now been closed due to wet ground conditions.

Snowdrops at their best
"Snowdrops are truly at their best and will be looking great for at least 2-3 more weeks" according to Head Gardener, Richard Todd.
The Woodland Walk is one of the best places to view snowdrops along with hellebores which are now in flower. Elsewhere there are fantastic displays of snowdrops and aconites throughout the Winter Walk and in areas by the House and under tree canopies in the Arboretum. If you fancy a slightly longer walk the Woodland path leading to the Hoe Fen Wildlife Discovery area has plenty of snowdrops in flower.

Snowdrop Festival extended
The recent cold snap is well and truly over and the snowdrops have emerged from the snow.
The good news is that having effectively been in deep freeze for a week or so the snowdrops are in fantastic condition which means the Snowdrop Festival can be extended until at least the 4 March, if not longer. If the snow and ice disrupted earlier plans for a visit there's still plenty of time to come and enjoy the amazing 250 species of snowdrop we have here at Anglesey.
A quick reminder that the gardens open at 10am each morning, with the Redwoods Restaurant opening at 9.30am if you fancy a cuppa before heading out into the gardens.

We're Open Again
Anglesey Abbey is open today following yesterdays closure due to the icy conditions.
There are a number of places where the snowdrops are emerging as the snow begins to melt. Unfortunately the main collection area is still covered by snow so we've had to cancel this afternoons planned Snowdrop Tour. We are optimistic that with temperatures set to steadily rise throughout the day that tours should be able to recommence tomorrow.
We have carried out extensive gritting along the paths but please do take extra care as paths could still be slippery in places.
